My approach to therapy is based on extensive research findings which demonstrate that reconnecting with nature can have a powerful impact on our mental and emotional wellbeing. That's why I offer a variety of services designed around nature-based activities like forest bathing, meditation, and mindful walk and talk therapy in addition to office-based psychotherapy. As a therapist, I work with each client to identify the best approach to help them find peace and balance. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, grief, or the stress of daily life, nature can be a powerful and healing partner. 

Psychotherapy 

I offer an integrative approach to mental health, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and affirming environment. I use trauma-informed techniques to provide meaningful and accessible solutions to the challenges you face. My goal is to create a compassionate partnership, working together to promote healing and growth on your journey to a fulfilling life. Psychotherapy can be provided in an office-setting, outdoors (seasonally), or virtually. 

Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk and Talk Therapy can enhance your processing by combing physical activity with therapeutic conversation. Numerous studies suggest that movement in nature can improve mood, reduce stress, and stimulate creativity, fostering a more relaxed and open environment for therapeutic discussions. Additionally, being outdoors can contribute to your overall sense of well-being and connection with the natural world, further promoting healing and wellness.

For Parents/Children

As a therapist, I know that building healthy relationships and social-emotional learning provide a solid foundation for long-term success. I work with parents and young children to help them develop these essential life skills in a safe and nurturing space. My practice is centered on empowerment, boundary-setting, and creating a supportive environment where the parent-child relationship can grow and thrive. Sessions will focus on learning through play and experiential parent-child activities, both in the office and in outdoor settings.

Rates: Kim is in-network with several commercial insurance plans including; Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, Aetna, Anthem BC/BS of Colorado, and Cigna. Self-pay rates for therapy are $160 per session. A sliding fee scale may also be available for some services. Fees for Forest Bathing and Nature-Based wellness vary based on program. 

Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku)

If you're unfamiliar with forest bathing, the name might be a bit confusing. Forest bathing is a practice inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin Yoku. It is a gentle, sensory, and mindful approach to immersing oneself in nature to experience an increase in well-being and numerous other benefits.  You can learn more here.  ​ Whether it's in a forest, park, or your own backyard, forest bathing provides unique opportunities to engage individuals in a low-risk, gentle, accessible, and effective intervention to help protect against mental illness and promote overall well-being. Forest bathing can be done as an individual, family, or group. 

Nature-Based Mindfulness for Stress Reduction and Wellness

Nature Based Mindfulness for Stress Reduction and Wellness (NBMSR) is based on the tenets of ecopsychology and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the program developed by Jon Kabat Zinn in the late 1970's at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. NBMSR is an 8-week program designed to cultivate mindfulness, the art of being fully present in the moment without judgement, and foster a deeper connection with nature. At its core, NBMSR combines mindfulness meditation, gentle somatic exercises, and sensory awareness practices to empower individuals in managing stress and the challenges of everyday life.

Nature-Based Wellness

My training allows me to offer a unique therapeutic experience that combines the healing powers of nature with expressive/experiential activities to help you connect with your inner self. In our work together, you'll learn how to deepen your relationship with nature as a source of inspiration, a means to connect with your emotions in a safe space, and to reduce stress and improve your mental well-being.
